My CavT has always run at about 80-85 when driving, in traffic got just over 90 and fan would kick in, a little low considering fan switch was a 105/100 in there.
Last week, sitting in traffic, car overheated as rad fan didnt kick in. Got to 105 deg and steamed from pressure release on rad cap. Got it cooled down again when clear of traffic, although still switched off when a little hotter than normal.
Next day it still ran fine and at normal temps.
This weekend i have changed the temp sender in case this was reading a little low (it and its terminal were very corroded), changed the fan switch and changed the engine stat too (std 92 deg type) for good measure.
Still no fan working, traced this too plug onto fan body, will sort later.
But while i was out driving this evening it seemed to be running hot. Even at 50 mph plus driving it was hovering around the 95 mark or slightly higher and still there at an easy cruising 100mph on a dual carriageway, that sounds a little high to me. Fan was not working at this point but shouldnt be an issue anyway, rad should be doing all the cooling at this point i woulda thought without assistance.
Both rad hoses get hot just fine, rad is hot all the way to the top, both returns to the header tank are spitting out water when required, heater gets hot just fine so assuming no blockages or air locks, it seemed to get hot quicker too.
Youre thoughts on this please, its kinda worrying.
