Front crank seal and spacer ring on XE 16v

Anybody got/know a good cheap source for the front crank seal (one that sits in the oil pump casing) and the spacer ring that the seal seals against?

As usual from Vauxhall the price is a joke, Autovaux a couple of quid better but still a joke!

Be really useful if somebody had a spare spacer ring from an engine that they have stripped!!

    Cheers

    Nat.

If your ring is only scored on one side, you can swap it round. What prices were you quoted?

I have three engines, two currently in bits so nicked the spacer from another. The problem with turning it was that the outside was corroded to much to clean up with fine wet and dry paper.

I was quoted around 28 plus vat by vauxhall, 23 by Autovaux, and about 18 I think for the seal at Vauxhall. Rang around for the seal but as usual they are non-standard, in this case the standard seals do not have the directional fins in. Have now found that BG Automotive (www.BGAutomotive.co.uk, really great place!!) do the correct directional seal for 99p!!!!!

99p! Do they do crankshaft seals too? They're about 8quid each too... I reckon someone with access to a CNC could knock those spacers out for a couple of quid.

Are you sure they do them for 99p? Part no. OS5317 is coming up as 2.71.

Just double checked, front crank seal is pt no. OS5306 and is 99p! (50x38x8mm seal, clockwise rotation)

I agree about the spacer, rang QED as they are just up the road from me and useful for those tricky to get bits, but they said demand wasn't enough to make a batch? When doing a full rebuild I would want to use a new one so that sounds a bit odd!? Would have to be ground finish I suppose so CNC plus grind but still not 28, could probably get a run of 1 made for that sort of money!!!

Any one have definite dimensions + photo for this spacer and if it is a hardened one.......*might* be able to get some made depending on the spec

Well this is odd, you are right OS5306 is listed for the C20XE but so is the OS5317 (look for C20XE in the list on http://www.webparts.co.uk/BGA/Buyguide/HTML/OS5317.HTM). This makes things very confusing!
