Took the head off my car last week and took it over to Headway in Chester today. Dropped it off at 9:30am...
Things I asked to be done ;
Clean - de-coke valves/guides.
New stem seals.
Quick Port/Polish (if any time left)
[think thats it...]
Get a phonecall at around 2pm to tell me the 8 exhaust valves were all ***ked. The valves needed replacing, and new guides fitting aswell.
Ok I said.. do whatever needs doing.
Went back to collect the head around 5pm.
He showed me the 8 exhaust valves he'd taken out. He was on about the thickness of the head of the valve, and showed me one that he'd tried to clean. They looked 'old' (although i wasnt really sure what I was looking at tbh). He then showed me the other end, where the collet sits. And showed me how worn the grooves where the collet sits where. It was moving around in there I've got this valve here, although it just looks coked up to me.. lol
His explanation for this was ; high mileage...and abuse
Anyway, he replaced 8 exhaust valves, and guides aswell as doing all the above. It looks all shiny and new... awwww
Just got to put the mofo back together now then.
