Guys how do you check if the TPS sensor is working ok. cos my idle gets abit lumpy, car start revvin up and down. I've already cleaned out the ICV and throttle body. The reason why I think its to do with the TPS is because when I diconnect it then reconeect it, the car runs perfect. Then after a few days the car starts runnin lumpy, try the above method again and everything is fine again.
The sensors about £35 + so want to be sure before I order another from Autovaux.
If you take off the rubber surround from the plug and whilst ignition is on you can meter out which wire changes voltage ( upto 0.5v ) whilst moving the throttle from closed to open (wide open throttle)
You should see the voltage increase as the throttle is opened and then drop as it's released !!
On my Calibra turbo there's 3 wires !! Pin 3 is the green/brown wire and this is the wire that I tested and used for me NOS TPS!!
There maybe other ways to test it but this is one !!
Ok thanks for your reply. If I do need to change it, is it just a case of removing the old one and replacing with the new or is there some adjusting/ calibrating to do. As I do not fancy gettin bogged down with fiddling. I'll replace it if its a straight foreward swop.
