the engine on my car sometimes randomly cuts out whilst travelling at high speeds!
its an x16xel mk3 astra.
when i'm driving along, if i've been driving at quite high speeds, then let off the accelerator, i will get a judder through the engine, and car.
then next minute the engine management light will come on,
then about a minute later the battery light will come on, and the car will just switch itself off!
i then have to pull over, turn the ignition on, and give it loads of revs to get it started again, if i dont rev it, it sounds like the battery is dead!
i've checked the battery and its fine!
obviously this is really scary, it happened yesterday when i was on the motorway and I shat myself!
it only happens once every few weeks, but its really annoying and obviously very dangerous!
the car starts first time all the time, drives really well, is really smooth!
please has anybody got any advice as to what the problem is, and how much it will be to cost? have been told it could be a sensor somewhere!
anybody else experienced this?
