Heya guys. I'm a beginner with mechanics and i decided to attempt my own top end rebuild of my XE. Im doing the engine fixup on Cavweb http://www.cavweb-forums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=26659 but i thought this boo-boo needed the expert advice of the mig boys. (nothing against cavweb just there are more techy-wise people on here)
I was tightening the head bolts locking the head back down and followed the haynes manual perfectly - 18lb ft then 90 then 90 then 90. on the final stage the bottom right hand dowelled bolt snapped the thread right out the block.
looking on here it seems i can helicoil it but thats not a good idea on the dowelled one or fit some head studs.
what are my options? i really needed to get this done by monday... if it can be helicoiled can someone suggest somewhere to get a kit and what i need?
or if i need some head studs can i just fit them even though some of the thread in the block is now not there.
