ive just lost half a sump of oil out my C14SE on the M1 from sheffield to york.
its not dripping onto the floor and not coming out the exhaust.
ive just found most of it in my header tank and have 3 options as to the problem:
1) head gasket is gone
2) cracked head
3) cracked block.
interestingly enough, the the right hand side of the block is noticably oilier than the left, not sure whether this has anything to do with it.
there is no mayonnaise on the rocker cover so would that suggest the gasket is still intact?
any help much appreciated!!
oil in water = head gasket, have the head skimmed any cracks will show up, fit new gasket/oil& filter /coolant 50/50 mix anti freeze, more than likely the head bolts on that side are loose but not worth taking chances, you could empty the coolant out and re tighten the head bolts and refill water only and see if oil is still getting into the water nothing to loose there, you never know you just might be lucky
Just see if the head bolts will nip up any more, or check to correct setting as the first step.........if they do tighten an amount then you might be lucky
Would have thought it unlikely the head/block would crack (anyone had experience of this?) without some prior problem
