I have a fanbelt that constantly squeaks. I can make it squek by putting fan on 4, headlights on dipped and radio on normal volume.
At idle there is a slight squeking noise but as you rev the engine it gets very loud and hurts your ears
Is there any way i can fix this as its really p!ssing me off.
It started happening when i put up rated bulbs in, but surely an increase of 40 watts should not start the thing squeling?
i'm not going to bother repeating the advise, but the extra load on the alternator is what pushes it over the edge and ultimately causes the belt to start slipping. at one point mine did it with wipers and rear demister on.
so we have a belt attached to your alternator pumping 12v+ out.
you add a few components and the belt slips. turn them off and it doesnt slip?
An alternator is just windings yes?
so why does the belt slip when you get increased load?
and what if you guys say tighten your belt with the chance of over tightning and bearing damage? what if he is at maximum load for that alternator? ie massive amps, large beams, heated seats, air-con, ejector seat?
