I have a dilemma, hopefully in a week or so i'll be starting my 3.0 V6 for the first time, problem is, i'm having some uprated 'Hi-torque' cams fitted along with a new cambelt at the same time.
This engine is a factory built unit, not 're-built' & i have a running in proceedure in my head.
The cams however are meant to be run in for 20 mins @ 2500rpm.
Now given that i'll be starting it up with these cams already fitted, i'm not sure whether it's a good idea to run a brand new engine in for it's first 20 mins at a constant 2500rpm as this goes against the 'rule' of running in the engine.
Could i 'run in' the cams for, say 5 mins @ 2000rpm then 5 mins @ 1500rpm or similar for example ?
Does anybody have any views on this as i don't fancy bu**ering up either cams or engine ?
