My cam belt snapped yesterday and ive just fitted new one to see if there is any damage but im having trouble adjusting it.
My car is a corsa B 1.2 8v SOHC
Ive undone the 3 bolts for the coolant pump as haynes says but cant move it to take tension.
Anybody done this and could explain what to do?
Is there no tensioner on the 1.2i like there is on the 1.4i?
I'd say the best thing you can do is take the pump out altogether if you're going to have to move it to adjust the tension. There's an O-ring on the pump that will more than likely start leaking when you disturb it by twisting the pump around - better off removing the pump and renewing the O-ring to save taking everything apart twice
The bad news is; I know of a few 1.2i's that have bent valves when the belt's have snapped Maybe you'll be lucky though
Yeah it was an exhaust valve, i think its all down to luck whether it bends valves or not i was just unlucky!
Kieran- it proberly would be easier but its all striped down now and the time it takes for me to find one and get it i could of rebuilt this one.
