yeah,course it'll fit, same outer casing, its just the internal gears and f/d thats different,havent got a clue on a price for a reconditioned one, but you only ever really need to do the bearings, and that'll cost about 200 quid to get done, not really a home job cos the inner bearing are in blind holes and a **** to get out
Check out the ratios before doing anything.
You can buy reconditioned boxes for around £250 from Black Diamond Gearboxes who are on the web somewhere (located in Warrington). They'll fit whatever final drive you want, so you could gear the car down a bit more too.
Interesting, thanks for the advice. Im not going to try fitting it myself, although i'd like to learn more mechanics this is NOT the car to do it on I'll see what my mechanic says and see if he can get one and do the work
