My dump valve (Bailey) stopped working this week and it was making a rattling noise when changing gear. I took the dump valve out last night and there was oil in it and the asssociated hoses, so i cleaned it out and it's working fine now. I've never noticed it before but it's possible that it's always been there. Is it normal to have oil in there?
There is a slight amount of blue smoke at idle. Is it possible to change the oil seals on the turbo or does this mean a new turbo? Please don't say i need a new one i've just spend a fortune getting it back on the road.
You can have the turbo reconditioned which replaces the seals. If you're not using any great amount of oil between changes I wouldnt worry about it too much. Lots of turbos have a bit of smoke on idle.. Might be an idea to keep an eye on the IC pipe, around the DV etc and make sure it stays clean..
