Well what a beautiful day for it.
Work started at 8am prompt as we were both keen to get on.
The final checks around the engine where done to make sure we'd tightened everything then it was hoisted on the crane.
The gearbox was added followed by starter and alternator - no problems so far all going smoothly
Last minute check of engine bay then up goes the car and slid under is the engine and pop she's in place and bolted down - hurray! Still no probs.
But then, Chris who joined in noticed something - the thread on the bolt that goes through the front gearbox mount was rather close to the box - infact touching. A few minutes of mincing and we dropped the engine and turned around the bolt - job done. All it means now is that if we want to remove the mount we have to drop the box.
In go the driveshafts and all is looking good.
I then had to shoot off at 4pm and leave dad to tidy up lmao as I had tickets to the norwich game. At half time (city 1 nil up! ) I gave dad a quick call:-
Me - "Hi, did you remember to stick the battery on charge?"
Dad - "Yes I did. We have a small problem tho - the bonnet won't shut! "
Me - "Oh."
Dad - "We'll look at it again in the morning.."
My initial thoughts were that the front engine mount was wrong as it was for the 2ltr 8v before but then thought can't be as the blocks are the same. Any ideas anyone?????
Its literally just the bottom left corner (towards drivers headlamp) catching the bonnet support. Any suggestions???
