Ive put a LET in a mk2 Astra cabbie, ive had to leave the 2.0 valve rad in place. will this be ok? at the moment the temp gauge (digidash) sits like this:
driving normally - 1 blue bar and 1 yellow on digidash
giving it some - 1 blue bar and 2 yellow bars.
ticking over after giving it some - i get 1 blue bar and 3 yellow bars but then it cools down back to 1 blue bar and 2 yellow bars. is this ok?
what temp is the engine at at the bars on the digidash?
Shall i buy a cool running stat or early cut in fan switch?
as the 8v bottom panels are different to the 16vs (they sit higher) it isnt
possible to put a 16v astra rad or LET rad. if i have to i will get a 16v lower panel welded in in order to use a 16v or let rad but this is a very last resort.
i reckon you'll be ok with the rad you've got, i run mine in a cramped nova engine bay with practically no air circulation. i put the 82 degree cool running stat on mine, warms up fairly quickly although prob a biut longer than by using the 92 degree standard thermostat. my digidash usually reads in the middle (1 blue+2 yellow?) although when not driven hard at motorway speeds(ie plenty of air to cool the rad) it sits at 1 blue bar and 1 yellow.
resorting to the change of panels like you suggested does seem a bit extreme, try the cooler stat first, it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper too...
yeah i will go for the stat, just wondered what each bar on the dash represents in temp wise. my rad sits in there very snug at the moment and like i said, welding a bottom panel is a very very last resort!
