I had that problem even AFTER cleaning the tank.... My pump would jam frequently cos of small bits of muck, so I plugged a filter before the pump. Worked a treat. Buy them at Halford for a couple of quid!
Not really, best to get a new one if it's fooked. Are you sure the pump's spinning? Should be making a low pitched whining noise. If it's loud and high pitched there's no fuel in there, and if there's no noise and it doesn't seem to vibrate to the touch, it's blocked
I check my regulator on a 2L 8v using an electric tyre inflator. Put the inflator to the regulator inlet and see when the air leaves the other side or regulator. I record around 50psi air pressure (very inacurate gauge) on the standard FPR. If your regulator is contaminated with debris it will let the air through. Blowing air through it may clear contamination.
As for the spark plugs, tried changing the leads? They do deteriorate, and it may also be worth checking the coil. My ex had a fiesta once which ran like sh!t until I discovered that the number 3 lead didn't work. Changed the lead, ran like a dream. Surprising really, since it was a ford
actually that does sound like a dispac fault, but it weird cos theres 1 spark for 2&3 and another for 1&4 so if 3 is firing, 2 must be as well
check there is a spark on the plug, swapping them will just make the miss move, i would try a new one. did you pull the leads off when you swapped plugs?
yeah , i pulled the leads off one by one, and could see the spark down the whole against the side. on all of them except 2. i then changed the plug with number 1 and number worked fine with the plug from 2. then i changed the lead from 2 to 3 and 3 worked ok with that lead. and 2 still didn't spark
but i can't seem to get any spark from any plug when i take them out and put then against earth on the engine .
