I can clearly see oil fumes coming from the catch tank breather after I've just started the car up and whilst it's at idle.
Is this normal or could it be signifying a problem?
It's normal, these fumes are normally directed in the inlet manifold and burnt into oblivion...
Yes, not currently on my setup at the moment. I think the fumes are making me ill.
They are poisonous and TOXIC. Quite corrosive, too (for surrounding metal parts)
There's a good reason legislation demands that they're burnt in the engine.
Now you're worrying me. I've just got a catch tank with a filter on it. It's always been this way (for about three years) and came like that from Courtenay. I've never had problems with an MOT or the like.
mine just vents to the road quite low down
