When I fitted my 20xe it looked like it hadnt had an oil change for some time and the old oil that was still in parts of the engine looked pretty black so I filled it with a reasonable 15w40 mineral oil and ran it for 1000miles like that to clean out any deposits.
The other day I put VX semi synth 10w40 in and since then the sump bung hasnt stopped dripping. Tried 2 bungs, different copper washers and ptfe tape. I noticed today when I went under to change the bung and washer yet again that it seems to have developed other leaks too in the past few days.
Looks to me like its time for another change back to a thicker oil, I hate driveway spotting.
I did have a driveshaft to diff case oil seal leak and that with a new seal is completely dry now.
The other car with an 18xe has been oil tight ever since I got it and I really want this one to be as well.
Crankcase berathers are all clear btw
