could anyone tell me if it is possible (without to much hassle) to fit a 1.6 non-turbo diesel engine for a MK2 astra to a 1995 MK3 van which was originally fitted with a 1.7 non-turbo vauxhall diesel engine??? any help would be great
Well your original 17D engine is just a bigger version of the 16D that came out of the Mk2. So physically, it will go straight in.
Only problem you may have is if the van is fitted with a Vaux immobiliser. On a diesel, it's a small square chip in the key which is matched the diesel pump itself.
Open the key up. Probably, with it being the non-turbo engine, it won't have the chip, but there again, it is an 'n' plate.
Otherwise, the engine will probably be a straight swap.
