one of my mates just bought an aplina chip off ebay for his beemer. I warned him that it might be a resistor mod but it arrived it was actually a IC style chip with instructions on how to fit it, i think it cost him about 45 quid. It looks to be the real deal.
It seems to me that this chip is one of those blank eeprom chips that someone has copied an alpina program onto, so in theory its ok to use, right?
Anyway the exhaust note is different when its on the car and the throttle is actually seems more crisp.
Its an E30 with an M20 engine.
Firstly is this chip illegal? perhaps this could be seen as piracy?
Secondly, is there a place i can get one, because to me this looks to be the real deal?
i'm not for shoddy mods but i hate my X14XE engine and i would like a superchip for it, to tide me over until we finish ripping the X20XEV out of my mates vectra (he has a nice C20LET now waiting to be dropped in).
I would not be heart broken about spending say 50 quid on a superchip for my engine then ripping the engine out but buying one at 300 to plug into an engine thats getting ripped out in just a few months!
Once the XEV (or XE depending on my mood on the day i start ripping the X14XE out of the astra) is in the car, i'll be putting a uni-chip in the car
