I am running SBD throttlebodies and aftermarket management on an identical car (1998 1.6 sport) and am very happy with the set up. It is a bit expensive, but you can improve the car a lot without going so far. The manzel powerbox is good for freeing up the inlet, and a janspeed manifold is pretty good for 200 pounds (not as good as my SBD one but half the price). If you need any advice let me know. This really is a great engine and the potential power is huge. Andy Hamilton runs 214bhp and SBD have a 1.6 engined caterham with 250!!
think i've probably got the same engine in my astra and by just drilling some big holes in the airbox, and removing the restrictive plastic things, and getting some air feed pipes to it has made an awesome difference, it pulls so much stronger now, revs alot more freely at the top end and even with the standard filter! and sounds wicked!
[hijackon]Is that the x16xe engine model?.. if so i have a janspeed manifold sat in my cupboard doing nothing... was going to bung it on my sisters 1.6 16v astra g but she sold it.. pm me or something if your interested, looking for something like £120-110 has all gaskets needed too... [/hijackoff]
