I spent most of yesterday getting to my old water pump to replace it with a genuine VX part. I offer the new pump up to the hole and press it in place only to discover that it doesn't fit flush with the block.
I pull the pump back out and compare the diameters of the pump at the point the sealing ring goes round to find that the new pump is larger by a 1-2mm.
Are there two versions of the pump? I quoted my engine number at the point of ordering.
yeah, good plan. during my rebuild i couldnt remember the orientation of the old pump, so i lined the little claw on the pump rim with a lump on the water pump housing of the block. that appeard to be fine. plenty of adjustability in the tensioner.
