Hello mates. I'm glad to find this site to help me build a LET engine here in the U.S.
I currently drive a 1988 Pontiac Grand Am (about the size of a Cavalier). It came with a SOHC C20GET. That's the best we ever got here. It was rated at 165hp/175lbs.ft. It was a strong runner with factory times in the low 15's. As fast as a Camaro/Trans Am or faster than any Mustang of the day. (did I just lose my audience?)
Anyway, after two attempts at a real strong runner, a porous head, rounded cam lobes, broken lifters, etc. I researched and completed a T20SED engine swap (Daewoo). How does this sound? 320hp/335lbs.ft? (240whp/250wtq) For more details go to the following links.
My next engine will be what I am calling a C22GET. It is based on the Asian 2.2 block with main girdle (balance shafts removed), 94mm 2.2 crank, ported oversize valves LET head, 8:1 JE pistons, Saenz rods, Garrett T3/T4 turbo (.65AR 58mm turbine, .50AR 58mm compressor), tubular manifold, block modded for piston oilers, the works. On 18-20psi looking for 450-500HP. I'll be looking here for parts and help, so til later...
