yesterday we were working on my mates golf. i took the plugs out to check the condition, clean them, etc.. when i went to put them back i thought just so it was doen properly i'd use a torque wrench to tighten them by the book figures. so i set the torque wrench to the right setting and then tightened a bit. the wrench didn't 'give' at all and they were getting really hard to tighten but for some stupid reason i kept on going and the spark plugs broke, leaving the thread firmly screwed into the engine but the rest of the plug detached from the thread so they could just be pulled straight out
so is there any way of getting the threads out? or have i fecked the engine totally? it's not too important as its off the road and probably gonna be scrapped soon. we're just using it really to learn about engines, etc..
and how does a torque wrench work then? i set it to the right setting but it didn't stop at the right torque, just kept on going and going
