I just got a cav gsi with a non-starting engine
looked at the timing belt and its got half the teeth stripped off, the marks on the cam pulleys dont line up too
the guy i got it from just said the engine was knackered cos he didnt put antifreeze in it, so I assume the water pump pulley has stripped it
but will this mean definite internal damage ???
and if so whats the most its likely to cost, and what exactly do I need to get checked or changed ????
I have the haynes manual here (dont laugh please) and have never stripped an engine down before, but due to the price this was I want to try sort it myself, is there any special toold I need ?
any help appreciated, thanks
