I'm having a bit of a problem with my cav. The car runs fine untill I put my foot to the floor. The car accelerates as it should, but as the revs pick up the engine suddenly loses all power. It's actually quite violent when it happens, throwing me forward in my seat. The car will drive fine if I'm not giving it full throttle. The ecu light has flicked on a couple of times when it's happened, but not stayed on long enough for a code to be stored. I've recently had the turbo off the car to clean it up and sort a few oil/exhaust leaks. The car is boosting higher than standard, hitting 16psi on overboost, and holding at just over 10. The driveshafts are also well and truly fubared. Could either of these be the problem?
Also, can anyone tell me which way round the 2 vacuum hoses to the turbo go (ones to actuator and compressor housing, not the dump valve)? Where do the other ends of these pipes connect, so I can trace them back and make sure I've got them the right way round.
unless its chipped and is supposed to be boosting that high, then boosting that high is your problem !! pretty sure the stock ecu has a 1 bar boost limiter (14.5 psi ish) above which is will kill the power.
I had the boost wound up to the levels you mention before I fixed the turbo. While setting it up it hit overboost a few times but didn't snap my neck when it backed the power off. It feels like the whole engine just locks up, it's really that violent.
