Some of you may have seen my previous thread where I though my wheel bearing was badly knackered.
Well, when I was in the garage today showing them the banjaxed ARB bush (from when they fitted the new wishbone) I asked them to make sure the castle nut on the end of the drive shaft was tight.
We had a look at it and it seemed ok but tightened it up with the airgun and it turned almost a quarter turn more.
Before doing this you could move the wheel around in the hub a fair bit, both up and down and side to side.
Now although I havent tried myself, the guy that tightened it said it has got rid of most of the slack.
On driving to work today it does seem alot better.
I was just wondering is it possible to over tighten the driveshaft nut and therefore hide the bearing problem or would the nut have been the problem all along?
