i know i really need to get my butt into gear and get an oil pressure sender for a gauge to help me answer this question (if anyone has one i'll buy it)
but when i start my car after its been sitting over night the oil pressure warning light comes on then flickers then goes off, this all happens in the space of 2 seconds in this time if i'm outside the car i can hear my engine sounding all ticky once the light goes off the ticking stops . . . i'm assuming this meaning that the engine is now properly lubed and running quieter.
the car hasn't always done this its been recent, is it the cold weather!?
my thinking is all the oil thats held in the pipes isn't staying there over night its seeping back down into the sump then in the morning it needs to be sucked back up! that doesn't sound right to me, shouldn't it stay there by vacume?
any ideas? i think my car has a small oil leak, my mechanic says the head gasket may be leaking a very small amount, but i havn't had it checked into fully yet to see if thats it, my cars spending more and more time away from me getting crap done to it than i'm getting time to drive it at the moment.
any help offered greatly appreciated (just don't mock my lack of engine knowlege )
