Redtop stuttering problems
Just driven about 30 miles in the wet with no problems. AS i nearly get home i let the engine rev to about 3700rpm and the engine management light came on and its as if there was a new rev limiter at 3700rpm?? Blip the throttle and the exhaust really pops (lot more than usual).
Got home and let it rev again to 3700 odd rpm and again the engine just seems to die and stick around that rev limit? Engine management light is still on. Below 3700rpm though it seems to drive fine?
Presumably a sensors gone, but can anyone give any idea as to what one it might be?
check the fault codes matey....
see www.topbuzz.co.uk for the fault codes
sounds like it might have gone into gimp mode

So i need to plug it into tech 1. Thats what i've been suggested to do. Faulty sensor somewhere?
Anyone had similar problems? What sensor went?
iirc this happened to DaveB when this Crankshaft sensor connector got full of water.
Yus Rik correct.
Daimo, read the link that is above to the topbuzz website, you dont need a tech1. A paperclip will suffice....
Mine was code 19 ; crankshaft signal incorrect. The plug that this went into was sat under one of my bonnet louvres, filled with water when it rained.
hmmm, it was tipping it down really badly and i've not taken the car out in the wet for months.
Where abouts is the crankshaft sensor? Would like to remove it and dry it all up to see if it makes a difference.
Found out that a friend of mine also witha 2.0 corsa had the same kinda problem but ended up needing a new ECU.
Crankshaft sensor is on the left hand side of the front of the block. The wire from it generally runs down the side of the cambelt cover and then down to the sensor.
Just thought i'd let u know it came up 19 which is the crankshaft sensor thanks.
just had a new crank sensor fitted to my redtop....Vauxhall want 95 quid, autovaux sell em of 25ish!!
£95!!!!!!!!! Bloody ell!!! I've got a friend who works for Vauxhall and can get cheap parts and says that the V6 crankshaft sensor is only about £40? (Got to actually find out the price though yet).
Have you got a contact number for this company that does them for £25?
They are in wakefield, W.Yorks. however the do an excellnt delivery service.
Muchos appreciated thanks
