I have asked this question before, but still no joy. Hope someone can shed some light for me...
My GTE 16v is a 1990 model and is suffering from a poor starting issue. Generally, when cold it starts ok. But when warm it struggles. It seems to turn over for a while, sometimes trying to fire. Then all of a sudden after say the third attempt, it kicks up and runs superb.
I have taken it to a garage in my area, who started of by fitting a new crank sensor. When this didn't cure the problem, he said the injectors were probably worn, supplying too much fuel.
To me that seems a guess. He did say that once the car was running, the emissions and fueling were right and it does run well.
It's just the starting thing.
I have heard people talk of ICV's and cleaning the dizzy, firstly how do I clean and find this ICV, and is it possible to 'clean up' the contacts on the dizzy?
Any help is really appreciated....I'm still learning.....previously a VW man!!
