I have been having lots of problems starting my 1.6 16v, its been put down to the battery not being powerfull enough to start the engine so im getting a heavy duty 55ah vauxhall battery tomorrow.
Once the car is started and running (normally have to do this by push starting it, because the starter just spins but doesnt start the engine if i use the key) it runs great, no problems at all,
but ive just read the fault codes tonight and I have a few. The codes were read with the engine off, just the electrics on. But the battery wasnt fully charged, it didnt even have enough power to turn the starter motor anymore. if that makes any difference.
This is my original thread for info
Starting Problems, X16XE in Nova
The codes ive read tonight are:
15- coolant temp sensor- high voltage
what can cause this? the cooling system is perfect when the cars running, doesnt overheat and the temp stays half way on the gauge as normal.
47- EGR position
no idea, i thought this may be due to the engine being off? any ideas?
52- secondary air injection pump relay- low voltage
this is obvious, i dont have the relay fitted, im getting one tomorrow, so im expecting this to go away.
85- immobiliser- wrong signal
This one i dont understand, the engine has started a few times now, when the battery was charged and by push starting. if the codes for the immobilser is wrong hows it possible to start the car I have the ecu, loom, immobilser pickup and chip from the same car. Any help? I thought if the engine was immobilsed the ecu light flashed fast? it isnt doing that, so whats this codes all about?
I am buying a new battery tomorrow, but now im wondering if that gonna solve the problems, or im just wasting money.
