Can a knackered drive shaft make the steering heavy?
Currently awaiting the replacement of my right hand side inner drive shaft on my V6 cav, noticed a knock which isnt there at the moment and had the AA out to look, diagnosed excessive play in the shaft. I noticed the steering has become quite heavy recently too, and it feels awful, the car feels "dead". Is there a connection between the two?

Tracking gets knocked out if you bash a kerb, hit a pothole or do a Dukes Of Hazard stylee landing over a humped back bridge!
Does it knock at all?
Check the colour of the PAS fluid. It should be a cherry red colour and smell fresh. If it's black or worse still has cr*p in it, empty it out and refill with fresh.
Yes it is strange! Even stranger is I`ve just been out in the car, and it doesnt feel too bad at all. I just dont get it. the drive shaft knock isnt there either, it only happened long enough in the garage from the time I turned into it to the time I stopped at the pump, though it did sound and feel pretty bad.
I`ve deffo not hit any kerbs in it, steering doesnt knock, no.
Checked the pas fluid, plenty in there, looks black to me, will have another look later, should it be noticably red or isd it more subtle?
