I am having trouble getting my X16XE started, its now fitted in a nova.
After the engine was fitted it took ages to start it, so long that my battery dies and then I tried another battery and that nearly died. It kept trying to start, I heard it fire for a second or two every now and then but it wouldnt keep running. After trying different batteries, and leaving it for a bit I tried it again and it started up.
The engine was fitted where I work so once it started I was able to drive it home and it ran no problems, I turned it off when I got home and then tried to start it again and it did no problem, twice.
When I went out this morning to start it, it was having none of it, tried for ages untill the battery was dead.
I am going to charge the battery if I can get hold of a charger. But I dont think its the battery causing the problem because the starter will run for a while before the battery dies.
Anything else I can check? what could stop it starting, even though the starter is ok, fuel and everything must be ok because it ran last night.
its had new plugs, leads, fuel filter, lines. The pump is definatly running because I can hear it and when we disconnected the fuel lines at the engine petrol came out, so the fuel side of things looks ok.
I thought it may be the built in immobiliser, how can you tell if it is immobilsed? does the ecu light flash a certain sequence?
My ecu light is constantly on but it was running fine last night.
