URGENT :- Rear Hub on Cav Turbo
Ok, I've had some problems with my car making knocking noises.
I decided to take the rear nearside hub apart to check the handbrake setup and the pins that hold the shoes in place were bent double!!!
There is no other damage so I though I'll just get some new ones and reassemble.
However..........The rectangular wholes which the brake shoe pins go into are part of the Hub (or whatever it is) on the Cav Turbo and they have rusted to the point that they are unuseable.
Can any one sugest a way of me geting round this problem? Such as an alternative way of securing the Shoes in place.
If not then will I have to get new Hubs etc????
think you'll have to get new hubs/backplates
Thats what I thought.
Does anyone know how to remove the backplate????
Couldn't you just adapt some washers to do the job??
I've tried it but its not gonna work.
There are 2 pins to secure. The one on the left of the Hub is doable with a washer or similar but the one on the right isn't accessable at all!!!! Clever Vauxhall Design!!!!!
If you work at it, you'll manage with a washer on both sides.
Although one side looks inaccessible, you can lever it a little and (just!) make enough space to get a slotted wsher in there.
