engine is in a nova sri, dont want to start the engine just now, just want to check the engine loom wiring by switching ignition on&checking to see if the fuel pump primes, but it does not.
heres the list so far connected:
green cav connector:
brown/yellow- not connected, where does this go?
brown/white-not connected, where does this go?
black cav plug:
red/white- (not connected yet, but goes to trip comp)
red/black- (not connected yet, goes to ignition red/black)
black/brown-(not connected yet, but goes to trip comp)
other cav black plug:
am i right in thinking thsat the pump should prime? anyone got any suggestions as to why it is not priming?
I made this assumption when i fitted my xe,the fuel pump on an xe doesnt switch on till you turn it over, turning the ignition on should pull part of the fuel pump relay in,its a double coil relay.
we hadn't got the ignition switched live connected, but it is now! The fuel pump relay now clicks when the ignition is on. The black/red is now connected to the ignition barrel, but still no fuel is pumped when the key is at the start/crank position. The starter is not connected, so the engine isn't physically cranking. Is this why the fuel is not being pumped? maybe the ECU is detecting nothing from the crank sensor and not allowing fuel to be pumped?
If this is the case, then I guess the wiring is fine.
can anyone shed any light on these diagnostics plugs?
i dont want to have to earth the wire (is it brown/yellow or brown/white needs earthing?) every time for ecu codes, can this be permanently earthed, with a switch in it, and the other flash wire wired into the ecu bulb on the digidash??
