Morning all - appreciate some help with this if any can help?
'96 Astra TDS (Isuzu) - been having some starting problems recently, in that, particularly when warm, the starter turns particularly slowly. Glow plugs light comes on for the usual duration, and a very slow speed bump start will get it going easily - lights, windows etc work fine.
My first thought was a bad battery, but having driven to work today without running lights/wipers/windows etc (journey of 30 miles) the starter didn't even seem to engage when I tried to re-start it immediately after turning off, though the lights/windows seem to work fine. The charge light on the dash works when the ignition is first switched on, but is not on in normal running.
I did a cursory check of the battery terminals and connections, which appear to be tight and clean, which makes me think the problem is one of these:
- a bad connection to the starter
- problem with the engine ground connection
- faulty starter itself
Anything else I should check? Where is the starter on this engine anyway - no doubt I can find it, but it'll be dark when I get to try so any pointers would be good!
