ive just had a power flow stainless all the way through with 2 silencers in the middle and one at the back but the exhausts souhds very loud is there anyway of quietening down the exhaust a little as the rear silencer that was put on but it semed very small is it true the larger the rear silencer the less sound where do i stand in terms of going back and having the correct box put on as powerflow are suppose to design the exhaust to the tone you want and definitely told him i wanted a quiet tone and this hasnt been delivered so obviously the system has been designed incorrectly.
I had this problem with a custom straight through exhaust. I ended up having to use 3 silencers (yes, as a rule of thumb, the bigger they are, the more potential noise-absorbing). I also found that swapping the tailpipe to one with silencing lagging in it and an OUTWARDLY not inwardly rolled edge made a big difference. Inwardly rolled tailpipes provide an edge to reflect the soundwave back up the tailpipe and cause orribe resonances.
Now my exhaust purrs very gently at part throttle, but when I put the foot down, I get a really exhilarating tone.
well, ive had my powerflow on for about 6 weeks, and mines got LOUDER not quieter.ive got mk3 sri and got 2 silencers then the back box and asked for loud.nice rumble, then floor it and oh yes!!,when on motorway hold speed and back of a touch and you cast hear the exhaust.what style pipe did u go for?i went 4 the 4" oval.
i went for a twin oval but its to loud for a convertible sounds nice but to loud what did you pay for yours im now having the rear silencer small box replaced with a larger rear silencer do you think that will kill the noise much.
