Im fed up with my 205 diesel being so damned slow, its only a cheap runaround, saves me a stack of cash compared to driving my kit car. Recently I have been doing far less miles than usual so I wont really feel the pinch if I wind the pump up a bit. Buying a new car is not an option.
Yesterday I undid a lock nut on the end of the pump (Lucas) and screwed in an adjuster screw. I ended up screwing it in 2 1/4 turns, it wont go in anymore. The tickover raised a bit but not that much so i adjusted it back with the stop adjuster on top of the pump. It does now feel slightly quicker but not much, the main difference is it revs much higher. I didnt want to find the new limit incase it went pop.
Do I take it that the screw I adjusted is not the equivalent one on the vauxhall diesel I have read about? I have screwed the screw right in but it doesnt black smoke like I expected it to if I adjusted it too much.
Sorry for being a divvy but i have never messed with a diesel before.
