A mate of mine has a calibra 16v with the C20XE engine.
It is burning a fair amount of oil,he has a set of valve stem oil seals from when i fitted a new head gasket for him.
What id like to know is how you change theese seals?
Can you change them without the head coming off or is it a head off job.
Ive looked in the haynes manual and it doesnt mention anything about valve stem oil seals,it only goes as far as taking the hyd lifter out.
Any one got a pic of the components and how they go together?
I think if the head has to come off ill have a look at the bores and if they dont look to bad with no lip ill try to persuade him that he either needs a hone and new rings or a rebore, pistons and rings.
How worn can bores be before a rebore is needed over just a hone and new rings.
How much is a full set of rings for a c20xe?
i think you can stick a bare ring down the bore at spaced intervals and measure the gap in the ring with a feeler guage. theres end gap tolerances in haynes manual. think it was something like 0.3-0.5mm for the compression rings.
