Been driving my little nexia around for a little while. I go to look underneath and realise the gearbox is ****ting oil out.
First thing I thought was the gearbox sump gasket was leaking so I spent saturday afternoon (with a hangover!!!) refitting the sump gasket.
Just finished driving home from work today when I look underneath the gearbox and realise it's still ****ing it out.
After removing the inspection cover that allows me to view the clutch it appears there's gearbox oil coming from around the clutch arm and release bearing. I gather an oil seal has gone.
From what i've been told, the gearbox is a rebadged F16 vauxhall one.
So my main question is how much is this going to cost to fix and secondly how hard
I don't mind doing the job myself apart from I've never really played around with gearboxes before.
If the gearbox has the hole underneath to remove the clutch it is clutch out, release bearing out, release arm off and the guide tube the release bearing slides down out. The seal is inside the guide tube and there is also an O ring round the face of the guide tube too.
If the box does not have the access hole it is the same, but gearbox out.
When you say there is a hole underneath do you mean a large inspection cover plate?
I think i'll post some pictures of it tomorrow.
Are these parts available from any motor shop or is it a dealer only part?
