OK, my turn for some advice
I have removed the head from a c18xe in an Astra CD I have here.
Cant find another one without bent valves so for the same price as repairing this head I bought a c20xe with everything from an Astra gsi.
I have really very limited work space here and thats outside on the drive so dont want to leave anything nickable out overnight.
Getting the c18xe block assembly out as simply as possible?
Crank pulley off, clutch inspection cover off, undo clutch plate without clamping, withdraw g/box spigot shaft, undo engine mounts and bellhousing bolts having jack under g/box and crane on block.....will the engine clear the chassis rail with a pot flywheel on? or have I got to take out the gearbox too?
Got no mates (sob) who would have anything to do with getting dirty hands so this is a 1 man band job.
The 20xe is complete with attached gearbox (early flywheel) but trying to lighten my load I was going to use the existing cr gearbox in the CD.
Or should I go the whole hog and try to raise the car up enough to drop the old block and g/box out the bottom allowing the replacement to go in the same way?
Yes I know, wait till the spring No I cant, I have the urge....
