hi guys, seeing as a loud tapping noise has just started in side my cam cover there is a good possibility i could have to remove my head. something i noticed when i had the engine apart is that the two timing belt backplate fixing screws at the top of the head look awfully close to centre of one of the cam sprocket holes when they are timed up. is there a tool or some form of 'doughnut' taht you can slot inside the sprocket hole to lock the cam in place to fit the belt. on my mates 106 gti you time the cam then fit an M8 bolt to lock the cam in position. this would be so much easier as i had to get a mate to hold the cams with a spanner on the sprocket bolt so i could fit the belt. what a nightmare this was!!
