Hi All! I'm in need of help on this project car of mine again When we acquired the car it had the 2nd cyclinder burnt out with an accomponying hole in the top of the piston. The head was a bit worn anyway so we replaced the head with a recon from Vauxhall (not cheap) and had the bottom end repaired and all new internals, pistons, rings, crank etc etc though we did I believe keep the original con rods. Once together and with a bit of help from people in this forum the car ran sweet as a nut through the running in period of 600 miles after which the oil was changed and a furthur 400 miles of very careful driving. Yesterday I gave it some for the first time, not thrashing the arse off it mind you, just a reasonable dig upto about 5.5k in each gear and the big grin on my face soon disappeared as the car started belching black smoke and making some damn unsavoury noises. Limped back home (luckily was not far away), whipped off the head and cyclinder no. 2 was dead again... my question to you fine people is what could cause this?? Could it be anything to do with the injectors? that's about all we didn't change, that and the turbo?!
We where up til 3am getting the engine out of the thing but aren't quite sure what to do next! I'm slightly incoherent thru lack of sleep! Any ideas ya got would be appreciated!
