Problem with fueling
Swapped engines in my mk3 astra from a 1.4 8v (spi) to a C20NE.
Last night night it was running, today it didn't, then this evening it ran fine then just cut out. Now there is no fuel being pumped.
Fuses are fine and its got the C20NE pump.
Sounds like a sticky fuel pump relay. Cheap and easy to replace. Should be behind the ECU in the drivers footwell.
Get a new one. About £7 from Autovaux.
I am presuming the engine turns over though. Just doesn't start no fuel etc.
Yeah it turns over, just no fuel.
Thanks, i'll give that a go tomorrow.
Any other suggestions, just in case.
Sounds like the relay then.
Well, check the pump, but it's unlikely to be that. More than likely will be the relay.
I'll sort the relay tomorrow, hopefully it is that.
Thanks again Si
No worries. Hope it's ok.
Seems weird because the doner car drove fine, now its got problems. Suppose it could be a problem with the wiring, had to do a bit of rewiring.
Oh well i'll check everything tomorrow.
They can run fine for ages then suddenly go, then run fine again for a bit. You may find if you go out tomorrow morning it'll start. They do all manner of stupid things.
Got a new relay this morning, but it still doesn't work.
Checked all the wiring and thats fine, one thing i noticed is that when you switch the ignition on there is no live feed to the pump.
You are running an MPi engine from an SPi fuel pump?
I've swapped the pumps.
Found out there is no power going from the relay to the pump via the fuse.
got a couple of new relays, still no good.
Something to do with the wiring somewhere.
Any help appreciated.
Could i just get a switched live and connect that to the fuel pump fuse?
yup that would work and thats prolly how it was originally wired - might be a point to find out why it doesnt work atm tho
mite have an electrial fault waiting to happen - dont wanna burn yer loom do ya
Got power going to the relay, but not coming out to the fuel pump. Its not the relay, as i've tried a couple new ones.
Got a few things to check in the morning then i'll do that.
