    engine mounts

I have to renew the rear engine mount in the next few weeks, what I want to know is can I do it myself? I have been told it has to be done with the top of the engine being supported by pulley or something of that nature, which I don't have. The only other way I can think of is from underneath with a jack supporting the engine but I guess the weight of the engine would be to much for the sump. Does anyone have any other ideas or know how else this could be done. I may have to take it to kwik-fits and let them do it. in case any of you don't know what my car is by now its a 90 cav 8v 2 ltr.

thanxs as always in advance with a large dollop of ice cream on top.

i put a jack under the sump with a block of wood to spread the load, worked fine for me

tho my rear mount isnt that big and it was mentionned somewhere that the cavs mount is large...might be safer with a hoist

ditto 8vs jack+wood trick - this is for the 20XE in an astra, so should be fine for your Cav also.

if you dont want to do it yourself, i suggest a garage and not kwickfit, sorry, but from personal experiences i wouldnt trust them to tie my shoelaces
