If I take the head off the cylinder and look down how do I check the timing that way?
The Timing on the crankshaft is perfect. The piston is TDC but the cam is not right!
I tried marking it up with the notch that is on the engine but somethings not right. If I align it with the notch on the cam - the crankshaft is out; and vice versa.
The notches are usually wrong anyway aint they!.
I hooked up the car to my other cars battery and been turning it over. But a flame might come out of the one carb (twin carbs) now and then. That usually means the timing is out slightly don't it?
It's hard to explain but I just need to know how I set the timing for a cam by looking down from the top of the cylinder head?
