Having a problem with a new found ability to destroy my clutch...
Accelerating in 2nd, changed on limit into 3rd. Revs stayed on limit with clutch down - clutch 'fried' instantly I engaged 3rd. Couldn't engage any gears so braked to a stop. Tried pulling away in 1st & 2nd - nothing doing, just strong burning smell. Was a Sachs performance clutch, 9 months & showing no previous signs of wear.
New clutch in, everything seems fine. Until tried accelerating hard through gears from 1st to fourth ( without hitting limit). Each time clutch down / gear change, the revs stayed high then settled down when gear engaged and strong burning smell, 0-60 a miserable 12 seconds. No problems hard accelerating/ decelerating in gear, only when changing gear.
Have tried/ checked:
Air leaks - none, Throttle cable - no problems, clutch cable travel - fine at 140mm.
Before I blow my second clutch this week, what can I do to resolve?
