Aiyee'z nearly finished my SRI 130 with twin DHLA Dellorto's engine into an Opel Manta B conversion.
The engine's in and wired up. I've tightened up the head bolts just finger tight till I can get hold of a torque wrench. What is the reason not too just do it up as tight as I can get it by knocking it abit with a hammer (the wrench)? Could I not just get it as tight as it will go with a normal wrench?
I've been working on the engine/car since 10am this morning, but like a nob i thought it would be a good idea to put water in the radiator ready for tomorrow.
Forgot that the head bolts were only finger tight
What shall I do? Will it be alright just to let it dry out then tighten the head bolts up? I've got this heavy duty hot air blower thingy I was gonna get on it tomorrow - Try and dry out any water that might be in it?
A bit of water came out of the seam by the head gasket because it wasn't tightened yet! Brand new head gasket. Only just dun it.
I put a screwdriver down the plug holes to see if their was any water in the pistons! Couldnt feel anything but not sure - tis dark. Look again tomorrow.
Will it be alright to just let it dry out?
cheers, appreciate it
