The clutch on Tiff's car has started to behave strangly, suggesting it is sticking on the splines.
Question is, do I need the clutch plate removal clips if all I am going to do is unbolt the pressure plate to check wear and see if the friction plate is sticking. Indeed with the pressure plate still in, will there be room to do even that or is the whole thing going to have to be removed?
if it's an early flywheel, you should just about be able to remove the cover without clipping the pp to it - they will come out loose - but you'll be knocking them about and possibly damaging the friction surfaces, so I wouldn't recommend it - I only did it this way once when I knew the pp was shagged.
you will of course have to pull out the input shaft either way.
then you have the problem of getting them back in - you'll need them clipped togther then, almost certainly.
