Phone upgrade time.

Am I being a bit of a smart arse here and playing the system or can anyone see any potential pitfalls?

I am thinking of getting one of those iPhone 3G jobbies, then I spotted this on the 02 website;

"Existing iPhone customers upgrade to iPhone 3G for free*

To thank you for being an iPhone fan, we're offering you an early upgrade to the iPhone 3G. You don't have to wait until the end of your existing contract either, all you'll need to do is agree to a new 18-month minimum term contract.

*Best of all, the new 8GB iPhone won't cost you a penny on our £45 and £75 tariffs. And it's just £99 on our £35 tariff and new £30 tariff."

So I am now thinking I should phone up to order an iPhone, ring back a few weeks later and say I notice they are upgrading existing iPhone users to iPhone 3G and get one of those then eBay one of them?

Re: Phone upgrade time.

I dont get it??

They are only offering that to people who have the older version of the iPhone....the one without 3G.

If you call up to buy one you will get a 3G version so won't be able to call back to ask for an upgrade...(cos you will already have the latest phone)

Or have I missed something? Do you already have an older iPhone or something?

Yeah, I'm just as confused as you mate

Either way, they don't make the iPhone anymore, just the iPhone 3G.

I love my iPhone 3G compared to my old O2 XDA Orbit... and the great thing was, I paid £99 for the iPhone 3G 8GB... then went and sold my O2 XDA Orbit to Computer Exchange (CeX) for £114

Thats my plan next month. I'll sell my N95 to cover the £99 phone cost.

No

The idea is that original iphone contract customers can get the new 3g iphone cheaper and within the original contract period to get the newer handset.

Probably going to change the front cover and sell it. Or mod it for the next 6 months and sell as unfinished project.
