| O2 and internet roaming in Turkey I was in Turkey for a week recently and today I got a shock with a £300 quid bill on my contract phone....240 quid was internet charges alone where the **** does the 'O2 has dropped their charges down since July 2008' come into this!
Anybody got sum know how to this as there is no way im paying this bill! The pricing is fecken mental and when i took out this new 02 contract I asked the woman...How much to go on the net when Im away for a week? She said I could get a add-on for 7 quid but i said I was only gonna use the net for a week since I would be away. She said £1.00 a day to go on-line with ur phone then and u can go on as many times as u want for that £1.00 per day
Need sum advice here please

| Re: O2 and internet roaming in Turkey This was covered on watchdog not so long ago.
Their advice was to check data charges whilst abroad as they were outwith EU restrictions on moblie tarrifs and normally were stupidly expensive.
A few guys on the program that night were stung for £1000's.
They managed to stike deals with the mobile companies in question but still left big bills. |

| Re: O2 and internet roaming in Turkey They do a £20 'bolt on' which get's you a whopping 10 megabytes of data transfer. Ten f*****g meg.
Their standard rate above that 10 megabyte limit is £6 per megabyte |

| Re: O2 and internet roaming in Turkey You said no VAT as you were abroad. As your bill is chargable in the UK you WILL have to pay VAT on the call/data you used abroad.
Adam, there is not a lot your going to be able to do, they probably won't budge. Tiffany had a text message a few months ago warning her that she had used £35 of data (in the UK) She maintains that she had not even been on the web at the time the data has been charged, and I do believe her as she has never ever used any more than her inclusive data in the past or indeed since. But O2 say their computers can not be wrong.
O2 cocked my bill up a long long time ago, in the days where data was not automatically turned on for your account. I phoned up several times to request it. But after several calls over several weeks it still did not work, and after being bounced around several 1st line tech chappies I got put through to someone who I could hear typing away as we talked and he turned it on, but clearly failed to tell the accounts department. Since then I have not paid a penny for data, even abroad using my Orbit as a modem for my laptop. Sometimes when abroad I get charged a connection fee of about 5p, but after that, zilch.
I have just looked at this months bill so far (since 28th August):
Total volume 82,216
Total cost £0.00
lol!

| Re: O2 and internet roaming in Turkey http://www.o2international.co.uk/sta...spx#paymonthly
See the above page from the international pages on the 02 website. the charge for international data is set at £6 per megabyte.
In your picture of your bill above, 12 september you used 15616kb which is 15.6 MB times that by 6 = 93.60 including VAT.
I do not think you have been over charged - you have been charged the correct rate.
I think you have been misinformed over the price and you should have maybe done more research before you went abroad.
Also not being funny but being away means less time on the phone, what on earth were you doing with 15MB in one day?

| Re: O2 and internet roaming in Turkey Adam was downloading 15.616 megs of animal porn at 00:16 on the 12th of September. Thats the problem.
Should have got a prostitute, would have been cheaper.
Adam, calls should be recorded so maybe contact them and say about the day you were told a quid a day (£7 divided by 7 is a pound a day! ) but if you haven't taken it you are pretty buggered TBH. That its always the early hours for the big hit. Comes in beered up and fancied a wank, paying for it now aren't you!

| Re: O2 and internet roaming in Turkey I would bring up the fact that they have billed you for 15 meg's worth of wap data in 16 seconds and question that as wap is not that fast. |
